The Constitutional Rights Foundation Chicago will present Motorola and Chicago
Public Schools CEO Paul Vallas with the 2000 Bill of Rights in Action Award at
CRFC's annual benefit on November 2 at the Chicago Cultural Center.
Each year CRFC presents the BRIA Award to honor those individuals and organizations who, through their professional and community endeavors, provide exemplary models of citizenship for our nation's youth. "Motorola's generous support for law-related education and other civic causes is an example for other corporate leaders," said Gordon B. Nash. Jr., Chairman of the CRFC board of Directors. "We are pleased to have this opportunity to recognize their contributions to the larger civic community." Motorola staff have participated in the We the People The Citizen and the Constitution program and has hosted training for LEAPP (Law Education and Positive Participation), an alternative to suspension program for 4th through 8th graders developed by Illinois District U-46 in cooperation with CRFC. Paul Vallas has received national recognition for his extraordinary leadership and service in improving public education in the City of Chicago. "Mr. Vallas has rekindled the hope of the city and an entire nation ," added Nash. "We are pleased to recognize someone who has brought positive attention to the tremendous accomplishments and skills of Chicago students and teachers."
