ELEMENTARY & MIDDLE SCHOOL HIGH SCHOOL

Open to middle school teachers in Chicago and the metropolitan area, this institute is designed to give teacher the tools to enable students to develop a comprehensive understanding of the Constitution and Bill of Rights in order to meet the U.S. Constitution Test requirement. Materials and assistance identifying lawyers to work in classrooms provided. Registration is $50 and space is limited. Stipend and CPDUs are available.

CIVIC MISSION OF SCHOOLS INSTITUTE

This institute will feature instructional models for infusion into Illinois high school law and government classes, including the "legislative semester" program. The institute will include interactive sessions, methods, resource materials, and consultations with teachers using these models in their classrooms. A third day (July 14) is a special session for teachers participating in the Illinois Civic Mission of Schools initiative.Registration is $100. CPDUs are available.

EDUCATING FOR DEMOCRACY INSTITUTE
(GRADES 2-5)

This institute features CRFC's programs for elementary and primary grades. VOICE (Violence Prevention Outcomes in Civic Education) combines law, peer mediation, and service learning. Primary VOICE enhances reading comprehension and citizenship for younger students. Instructors include experienced educators, lawyers, and police officers or SROs. Registration is $25 and space is limited. Stipend and CPDUs are available.

EQUAL JUSTICE UNDER LAW INSTITUTE
August 3-4, 2006,

Open to law and government teachers in metropolitan Chicago and downstate Illinois, participants will enhance their knowledge of a recent U.S. Supreme Court decision and examine applicable policy issues in state law with law professors and policymakers. The institute prepares teachers to participate in CRFC's Equal Justice Under Law student conference in Springfield (November) or Chicago (December). Registration is $100 and space is limited to 16 participants. CPDUs are available.
